Privacy policy
Last updated 16 August 2026. This policy covers this website and founding-place reservations. It will be updated, and you will be told, before Nell processes any telephone calls.
The short version. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you reserve a founding place, Stripe takes your payment details and we get your name, email and subscription status so we can keep your place and email you about it. We do not sell or share your details for marketing. You can ask us what we hold, correct it, or delete it at any time.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of personal data collected through this website is James Barkway, a sole trader trading as Nell, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London E6 2JA. Contact: support@nellanswers.com. [ICO registration reference, once registered].
2. What we collect and why
| When | What | Why, and lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| You visit this site | Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time). We do not add any tracking of our own. | Keeping the site running and secure. Legitimate interests. |
| You reserve a founding place | Stripe collects your name, email address, card details and billing address on its own secure pages. We receive your name, email, the last four digits and expiry of your card, your subscription status and payment history. We never see your full card number. | Setting up and running your reservation and, later, your subscription. Performance of a contract. Keeping accounting records: legal obligation. |
| You are a founding-place holder | Your email address and the emails we send you. | Sending you the monthly progress email, notice before your first payment, launch and service messages about your pre-order. Performance of a contract. Anything beyond service messages, such as newsletters, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. |
| You email us | Your email address, name and whatever you write. | Answering you. Legitimate interests. |
We do not carry out profiling or automated decision-making about you.
3. Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or social-media trackers. Fonts are served from our own site, not from Google or another third party. If we ever add analytics we will use a cookie-free tool or ask for consent first, and we will update this page.
When you click “Reserve a founding place” you go to a page run by Stripe. Stripe uses cookies on its own pages for fraud prevention and to run checkout; see Stripe’s privacy policy.
4. Who we share data with
- Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, Ireland, and affiliates), which processes payments and holds your card details as an independent controller for that purpose.
- Our email provider, [provider name], which sends and stores our email to you on our behalf.
- Our website host, [host name], which serves this site and keeps server logs.
- Professional advisers, and public authorities where the law requires.
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
5. Where data is stored
We keep our own records in the UK or the European Economic Area. Stripe and our email provider may process data in the United States; where they do, transfers are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable.
6. How long we keep it
- Reservation and subscription records: while your place or subscription is active and for six years after it ends, because tax law requires us to keep financial records that long.
- If you cancel before ever being charged: your saved card is deleted at Stripe straight away; we keep your name and email for 12 months so we can show you asked to cancel, then delete them.
- Emails between us: two years, then deleted.
- Server logs: kept by our host for [retention period].
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; and give it to you in a portable form. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Email support@nellanswers.com and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
8. Telephone calls, from launch
Nell has not launched. When she does, she will answer calls for clinics and process callers’ personal data (name, phone number, what they want to book, and a recording or transcript of the call) on behalf of each clinic. In that relationship the clinic is the controller and we are its processor under a written data processing agreement. Callers will be told at the start of each call that they are speaking with an automated assistant and, where recording is on, that the call is recorded. Recordings and transcripts will be kept only as long as needed to make and confirm the booking or pass on a message, and then deleted on a fixed schedule. This policy will be updated with the full details, and founding-place holders told by email, before any call is processed.
9. Children
This website and the pre-order are for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
10. Changes and contact
We will post any changes here with a new “last updated” date and email founding-place holders about material changes. Questions: support@nellanswers.com, or write to Nell, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London E6 2JA.
